Industrial Training Report Preparation Guidelines

Required Format

The writing rules that must be followed in the preparation of internship reports are stated below.

  • The report should be printed on 210 X 297 mm A4 size paper.
  • The report should contain at least 20 pages. All of the tables and figures should be prepared on computer. Advanced figures prepared manually, if needed, should be given as an appendix.
  • All figures, tables, and pages should be numbered. The figures and tables should be placed as close to their citations in the text as possible.
  • The label of each figure should be below the corresponding figure; the label of tables should be written above the corresponding table.
  • The first page of the report should contain the student's name, surname, ID number, and department.
  • The report can be written either in Turkish or English, but not both.
  • The report should be delivered in spiral binding hardcover. Reports with sheet protectors will not be accepted.
 
Sections of the Report

Internship report should include the following:

  • Cover Page: See the required format given above.
  • Table of Contents: All the titles and subtitles should be listed by specifying the relevant page number.
  • Internship Program and Approval Page: The student and company information should be given. This page should be signed and sealed by the authorized officer. The table of "Summer Practice Activities– Summary Table" should be filled with the name of the department where the internship studies are held and a brief information must be given for each week or for a specified interval of days. The dates and the number of days worked should be given and each week/day intervals should be listed by numbers. The approval section at the bottom of the table must be signed, stamped and approved by the authorized supervisor in the institution where the internship is held. The title of the authorized supervisor who will give approval must be Electrical-Electronics Engineer or Computer/Software Engineer.
  • Preface: Brief information about the internship should be given. The preface should be at least half page and maximum one page.
  • Presentation of Company: Introduction of the company where the training is held, its organizational structure, activity areas, departments, employee information, production activities, marketing and product information should be given.
  • Evaluation of Internship Activities: In this section, the items that are summarized in the table of "Summer Practice Activities– Summary Table" should be given in details. Your work and experiences, theoretical information on systems and products that are learned, the student's one-to-one studies, contributions and the projects in which student has a role should be given in details under the subtitles of "Internship Activities-#". The report should explain the knowledge and experiences gained by the student, not be limited to describing the devices and systems used by the company. First-person or third-person writing should be used while giving one to one experiences. Internship activities that are explained should be supported by pictures, diagrams or tables with proper labels. All attached pictures, diagrams and tables should be cited in the text.
  • Conclusion: Summary of all the things that are mentioned in previous internship activities should be given in this section. Discussion of gained experiences and their effects on student's career plans should be given. Conclusion page should be at least half page and maximum 1 page.
  • Appendix: Additional materials if necessary. The documents, graphs or pictures which cannot be fitted into report section can be given in Appendix. All of them should be labeled properly.
