Explanation of communication, explanation of language and its relationship with the thinking proces, culture, society and literature; written and oral communication; main characterisrics of the Turkish language; phrases and types of narration; expressional failure.

Application techniques of engineering mechanics to human muscle-skeletal systems. Mechanical properties of tissues. Structural properties and mechanical analysis of bones, muscles and joints. Dynamics of mechanical systems. Investigation of orthopedic materials through mechanical procedures, stress and strain applications of implantation materials. Statics and dynamics of solids and fluids; material behavior including elasticity, viscoelasticity, fatigue, and failure.

Introduction to the semi-conductor technology. Semi-conductor circuit components: diodes and transistors. BJT and FET transistor parameters, operating regions, small signal models, voltage and current gains. System approach to the semi-conductor circuits, effects of source and load impedances. Operational amplifiers.

Semi-conductor junction diode characteristics and applications. BJT and FET transistors and their biasing, measurement of transistor parameters. Transistor amplifiers, amplifier frequency response. Operational amplifiers and their applications.

Multivariable functions, partial derivatives, directional derivatives. Lagrange multipliers. Double integrals, triple integrals, line integrals. Green's theorem. Surface integrals, Stokes' theorem. Gauss theorem (Divergence Theorem). First order differential equations. Second and higher order linear equations with constant coefficients. Reduction of order. Nonhomogeneous equations. The Laplace transform, initial value problems. Systems of first order linear equations with constant coefficients.

Basic topics in probability, probability axioms, sample space, conditional probability, counting methods, discrete random variables, probability mass function, families of discrete random variables, expectations, function of a random variable, variance and standard deviation, continuous random variables, distribution function, probability density function, expected values, families of continuous random variables, the normal distribution, pairs of random variables, joint distribution function, marginals, joint probability function, functions of two random variables, variance, covariance and correlation concepts.

Illustration of “narration” and its types; writing and communication modes; exemplified by masterspieces chosen from Turkish and world literature; exercises in effective writing and public speech.

Basic concepts of medical instrumentation. Origin of biosignals. Measurement of biosignals: electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyogram (EMG), electroencephalogram (EEG), electroneurogram (ENG), electroretinogram (ERG), electrooculogram (EOG). Basic sensors systems and their operating principles. Biopotential amplifiers. Fundamentals of electrodes and transducers. Biopotential electrodes.
